Susan Sarandon has flourished on the big screen as an actress since the 1970s, appearing in films like Bull Durham and Thelma and Louise. The beloved star never let showbiz diminish her role of being a mom, though, as she balanced raising her three kids, Eva Amurri, Jack Robbins and Miles Robbins, to the best of her ability.
“I can’t tell you how many times I made turkey stuffing in my trailer,” Susan joked with the Hollywood Reporter in December 2014. “We actually shot Bull Durham on Thanksgiving, so I taped the parade so we could watch it together the next day. You find a way to cope.”
Susan started her family in the early days of her career. After splitting with her ex-husband, Chris Sarandon, following 12 years of marriage in 1979, she became romantically involved with Italian filmmaker Franco Amurri. Susan and the Roman-born producer welcomed their daughter, Eva, in 1985, but the two split before they ever walked down the aisle.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show star experienced parenthood once again when she started a relationship with Tim Robbins in 1998. Susan and the Mystic River actor welcomed their son, Jack, in 1989, followed by the actress’ youngest, Miles, in 1992. The couple raised their blended family together before calling it quits in 2009.
Nowadays, Susan’s kids are all grown up and they know how much their mom has impacted them in a positive manner — especially Eva. The That’s My Boy actress, who has little ones of her own, credited her mom for teaching her how to be independent and confident.
“I think just being a working mom and showing me that you can be everything you want to be, unapologetically,” Eva exclusively told Closer Weekly in May 2019. “And being an example for that … so I could see that as I kind of formulated my own method in parenting, which was really helpful.”
Susan made sure to teach her kiddos all she knows, and now, she’s passing down that information to her adorable grandkids, Marlowe, Major and Mateo. While exclusively chatting with Closer in October 2018, Susan opened up her adorable youngsters.
“They are thriving,” she gushed. “Marlowe is just so funny — she’s a fierce little clown and so articulate. And Major’s really showing his personality. They’re divine. I love them.”
