What is Mike Repole’s net worth?

Mike Repole, an American businessman, has a net worth of $1 billion dollars. He made his fortune by co-founding beverage companies Glaceau and BODYARMOR, among others.

Early Life and Career

Mike Repole was born in Queens, New York, on January 21, 1969. He was the first person in his family to graduate from college. He graduated from St. John’s University with a degree in Sports Management in 1991 with a 2.2 GPA.

His first job out of college was as a salesman for a beverage company called Mistic Beverages. He eventually moved over the Crystal Geyser where he rose to be the Vice President of Sales.

Co-founding Glaceau

Mike Repole partnered with J. Darius Bikoff in 1998 to co-found Energy Brands, which was commonly known as Glaceau. Their first product was Smartwater, launched in 2000. Smartwater became almost solely responsible for the surge in popularity of enhanced water beverages. They also introduced Vitamin Water.

By 2007, Glaceau’s annual revenue exceeded $1 billion. The company was acquired by Coca-Cola for $4.1 billion that same year. Repole and Bikoff were known for their generosity in distributing stock options to employees. On the day of the acquisition, around 400 employees received checks averaging $500,000, with some early employees receiving even more. Rapper 50 Cent, who endorsed Vitamin Water early on, chose equity over salary to appear in the company’s commercials. He reportedly earned between $150 – $200 million before taxes, or roughly $75 million – $100 million after taxes.

Mike Repole’s Acquisition of Pirate’s Booty

In 2009, Mike Repole used a portion of his Coca-Cola windfall to acquire the majority of snack company Pirate’s Booty.

Five years later, in 2014, the brand was sold for a whopping $200 million.

But Repole’s appetite for success was far from sated, as he continued to pursue new ventures and investments.

Mike Repole’s Success with BODYARMOR

Mike Repole, co-founder of BODYARMOR, who previously sold Glaceau Vitaminwater to Coca-Cola, brought on Kobe Bryant as an investor in 2014. At that time, the company was generating only $10 million in annual revenue. However, in 2018, BODYARMOR’s revenue surged to $400 million, leading to Coca-Cola’s acquisition of a minority stake valuing the company at $2 billion. As a result, Kobe’s 10% stake, which he bought for $6 million, increased its value to $200 million.

Today, BODYARMOR is endorsed by renowned athletes such as Mike Trout, Megan Rapinoe, and Trae Young. As he did at Glaceau, Repole has made sure that all endorsers and many employees receive equity in the company.

Mike Repole’s Horse Stable and Attempt to Buy NY Mets

Aside from co-founding Vitaminwater and Smartwater, Mike Repole also owns a successful horse stable that has earned over $40 million in prize winnings throughout its career.

In 2020, Repole teamed up with Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez in an effort to purchase the New York Mets, which is his favorite baseball team. Unfortunately, their bid was unsuccessful.
