A WOMAN'S body has been found in the trash chute of a luxury apartment complex, cops have said.
Harrowing video footage showed Jaclyn Elmquist walking down the street where she was trying to open doors of buildings - hours before her remains were discovered in New York City.
Elmquist, 24, was found in a trash compactor by a maintenance worker on Friday and she had suffered trauma injuries to her head and body.
Cops do not suspect foul play as their probe continues, per the New York Post.
"A preliminary investigation determined the deceased's injuries are indicative of having fallen down the garbage chute," a Deputy Commissioner of Public Information spokesperson revealed.
Surveillance footage appeared to show Elmquist stumbling outside of the building where her body was found, per cops.

At one point, she could be seen grabbing onto a wall to steady herself before heading toward another building.
"It hasn't been determined if she was intoxicated but it's a possibility," the police source said. "It's being looked at."
Elmquist had been at a work party in Manhattan, but never made it back to her home in Brooklyn, her cousin, Katlyn Kampmeier, wrote on X.
"She didn't come home or show up for work this morning," Kampmeier said in a post alongside a missing person flyer.

Workers who found her body in the luxury condo were able to identify that she wasn't a resident, but it's unclear how she got onto the property, New York's WCBS-TV reported.
Cops told The U.S. Sun that they responded to a 911 call from the building and Elmquist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The building, where a two-bedroom apartment recently sold for nearly $3 million and rentals top $7,000 per month, is located just a half block from the High Line, a tourist hotspot.
Tenants and locals were left stunned by the grisly find.
A doorman told one resident that the maintenance worker found the body while taking out the trash, the New York Post reported.
"It’s terrible. Man, I feel awful for that person." the resident said.
“We asked what was going on and they just said they found a body.”
His partner added: “It’s a little alarming because we live here."
The couple said cops asked them if they had heard a domestic argument in the building the night before.
