Damar Hamlin plays as a safety for the Buffalo Bills and was drafted in the 2021 NFL draft as the 212th overall pick. The 24-year-old comes from humble beginnings and had to work hard to be where he is today.
Hamlin incurred a horrendous injury against the Bengals in a week 17 matchup as the Bills safety took a terrible hit to the chest from Bengals receiver Tee Higgins and shook it off. However, as soon as he got up, he collapsed back on the field.
The medical personnel was immediately called, and they administered CPR on the young safely. Hamlin also required an automated external defibrillator. The Bengals-Bills game was suspended indefinitely as the ambulance was called to the field and the 24-year-old was quickly taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Hamlin believes all the success that he has achieved was possible due to the upbringing that his parents gave him. Bills safety was born when both his parents were just 16 years old. His mother, Nina, and Father, Mario Hamlin, tried their best to give him the best life possible.
“It was us at first, just me and my mom and my dad, and they taught me hard work. They taught me you gotta work for everything you and basically they just taught me all of the lessons of life,” Hamlin said in an interview.

Hamlin was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. The young safety has endured a lot throughout his childhood but still kept hope and made it to the NFL with resilience and hard work.
The 24-year-old’s parents, Nina and Mario, were just 16 when they had Hamlin and dedicated their entire life to giving their child the best upbringing they can offer.
Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.

However, after everything, Hamlin is incredibly proud of his parents and dedicates all his success to them.
“I would just really give all that credit to my parents, that’s really like the biggest difference that I’ve seen in everyone’s lives that was around me growing up,” Hamlin said during an interview last year. “Just that fact of having two parents in my life that were dedicated to me and all into me, every move from being little to growing up.”
Damar Hamlin is currently in critical condition at a Medical center in Cincinnati and will require all the love and support from the surrounding people. His mother, Nina, was present in the stands during the game and saw the heartbreaking moment with her own eyes before being asked to be with her son during this tough ordeal.
